Google Search Terms highlighter

Description: Google Toolbar popularized a nifty feature that highlights the terms on a page that you used to locate the page using. Well, this script adds such a functionality to your page as well, so users of Google who stumble across your page using the search engine see the terms they used highlighted on the page as well. Just add the script to your page, and it does the rest!

Demo: In order to see the script in action on a page, you need to derive at that page via Google. With that said:

  1. Click here to visit Google and with the search terms "dynamicdrive webmaster resources clipart"
  2. Click on the 1st result returned (www.dynamicdrive.com/resources), and notice how the terms are highlighted on the page.

Directions Developer's View

Step 1: Insert the below code into the HEAD section of your page:

Select All

Step 2: The above code references an external JavaScript file, which you can download here: "google.js" (right click , and select "Save As").

That's it! When a visitor reaches your page via Google by querying it, the search terms used will be highlighted on your page.
